The Pfalzwerke Group is taking the next important step in digitalisation and further expanding its existing loT infrastructure. At the turn of the year, Pfalzwerke started a cooperation with the software provider and loT (Internet of Things) specialist Digimondo. The aim of the cooperation is to be able to respond even more individually and quickly to customer needs with IoTista and to make more municipalities, commercial and industrial companies fit for the future with loT services.

The Internet of Things has already been an integral part of the Pfalzwerke Group's service portfolio for two years. In an interdisciplinary team of colleagues from Pfalzwerke AG and Pfalzwerke Netz AG, loTista was brought to life. Already in the development phase, seven clients were won in the network area of Pfalzwerke. Through the installation of more than 500 sensors based on the loTista concept and LoRaWAN wireless technology, room and climate data such as temperature, humidity and CO2 content in schools are currently being monitored and electricity, heat, water and gas meters or container fill levels in municipalities are being read out remotely without contact.

Faults can be detected and remedied more quickly

By moving loTista customers, all gateways and sensors to the new Digimondo platform, users now have an even easier overview of all information and can better evaluate incoming data. If the values deviate from the target, faults can be detected and remedied more quickly. Customers also benefit from new dashboard functionalities such as the optimised map display and an improved user experience. Digimondo's digital twins feature also offers further advantages. Digital twins are images of physical objects and the next step in the Internet of Things. Sensor data is freely combined with other information and analysed. In this way, unknown correlations are revealed, loT data becomes child's play to use for every person and every need, and business processes are automated. In addition, essential components of the necessary servers are now hosted in a data centre in the region.

„Offering future-oriented added value“

"loT solutions are achieving an ever greater scope in rapid steps and are now indispensable for the remote control, maintenance and networking of machines and systems," says Christoph Raquet, Head of Technology and Innovation at Pfalzwerke. The more the Internet of Things becomes established, the more important it becomes that complex solutions and technical infrastructures can still be controlled easily. "We are therefore very pleased that we can expand our expertise in this area through the partnership with Digimondo and thus offer our customers many promising added values for the future," sums up Raquet.

„Pfalzwerke is a pioneer with the concept“

"We are very pleased to be able to support the Pfalzwerke Group with our loT software in the implementation of their digitalisation and service strategy," says Sascha Schlosser, Managing Director and Chief Market Officer at Digimondo: "With their IoTista concept, the Pfalzwerke are pioneers and, in my eyes, absolutely on the right track. As infrastructure operators and service providers for services of general interest, municipal energy utilities are predestined to offer people and companies more extensive services in the field of traditional energy supply. Because many of these loT-based services pay directly into the energy transition by making processes much more efficient and resource-saving."

About loTista
loTista is a loT concept developed in-house by the Pfalzwerke Group. It is aimed at municipalities, public utilities, commercial and industrial companies as well as supply and disposal companies. Based on a modern loT platform and LoRaWAN radio technology, the concept offers loT solutions to digitalise existing infrastructures according to individual needs and to create new ones. The services range from energy and CO2 monitoring to the monitoring of distribution networks and gas network stations to level, building and parking space monitoring. With its loTista portfolio, Pfalzwerke offers all services from a single source: consulting, delivery of hardware, installation, network setup, project planning, commissioning and training.
