At E-world energy & water, IoT specialist Digimondo GmbH is presenting an innovation that raises asset and data management for network operators to a new level of quality: As part of the joint strategic partnership between ITS Informationstechnik Service GmbH (with the Lovion BIS product), Niotix is now also connected to BIS. This makes it possible to make dynamic IoT data — from transformer stations, for example — graphically visible in BIS. No less important is the new interface to the FROST server (OGC SensorThings API), which allows IoT data to be integrated via open data and urban data platforms as well as into any website and made visible very easily.
With its product policy, Digimondo GmbH is consistently continuing on the path it has taken: developing and offering innovative IoT solutions and services that are geared in particular to the current needs of customers in the energy sector. At the beginning of 2023, Hamburg-based companies conducted a survey among their customers and found that the IoT market has outgrown its infancy. 79% of companies said they had left the proof of concept phase and were already rolling out IoT on a large scale. In addition to smart city applications, according to the survey, monitoring of transformer stations and network nodes as well as the collection of operating data in district heating networks are among the most important applications with the greatest benefits and a good business case. In both cases, there is a serious lack of transparency. The power grids are groaning under the consequences of the energy revolution — more and more PV systems, heat pumps and wall boxes must be connected. Little is known about changing load flows and current grid loads. Heating network operators, on the other hand, are under pressure to be efficient as a result of the regulation on consumption recording and billing for the supply of district heating or district cooling (FFVAV). In both cases, LoRaWAN-based measurement and sensor data collection ensures that light comes into the dark.
Merging the data worlds
Until now, static equipment data and dynamic IoT data existed in separate databases. Your merger is now possible in two directions. On the one hand, IT and IoT data can be combined and visualized on the open NIOTIX platform. On the other hand, network operators who work with Lovion now have visualized live data from niotix in their core work system, the BIS. Digimondo also has a proven and low-maintenance product in which IoT data is made accessible to network control systems via an IEC 140 interface. “The world of IoT and IT is growing together,” summarizes Digimondo managing director Christopher Rath.
Open data app simplifies access to public dataAnother current highlight is the implementation of an open data interface via Frost connector in niotix. In this way, Digimondo provides a tool for easy implementation of the Data Use Act. With the interface, energy suppliers and network operators can easily make any type of data available to citizens, municipalities and the EU as open data on a website. For example, information on particulate matter pollution, water levels, parking garage occupancy, swimming pool utilization, etc. is made barrier-free. This data is very easy to visualize or download. All IT components used are open source and therefore meet EU requirements.
niotix — the linchpin for a wide range of data
The niotix IoT platform is the core and enabler of all IoT applications at Digimondo. Your hallmark: Openness and connectivity in all directions. On the input side, this applies to data of all formats from any source and system. The output side is about the barrier-free provision of prepared IoT data in IT systems and on the Internet. To make this possible, Digimondo cooperates with various IoT and IT service providers. The latest examples of Lovion integration and the Open Data module confirm that this claim of openness is a common practice. On the other hand, Digimondo is closely connected with the utility industry in order to implement new use cases in a targeted manner.
IoT at your fingertips
Digimondo presents hands-on IoT at E-world. For example, visitors can expect a live insight into a supplier's productive IoT system. On the other hand, a small complete IoT solution in live operation will also be on display at the exhibition stand — with sensors that collect data at the exhibition stand and their visualization with niotix. “We cordially invite interested parties to visit and are looking forward to three certainly exciting days at the fair,” says Digimondo managing director Christopher Rath. “The energy market has rarely been as exciting as it is right now. Digitalization pressure is increasing. We make the future possible. ”
