After a long break in events and trade fairs, E-world energy & water (June 21-23, 2022 in Essen) is Digimondo GmbH's first major live event at which the Hamburg-based IoT specialist is once again actively exhibiting. With a comprehensive brand relaunch and strategic realignment at the end of 2021, as well as the expansion and growth course started at the beginning of 2022, Digimondo now wants to show for the first time at E-world what's new, especially on the product side. The focus is on the strategic opening, technological development and modularization of the company's own IoT platform. With the next “major release,” the software solution is presenting itself on time at the trade fair as the first “IoT meta platform” of the next generation with an integrated app store concept. In addition, Digimondo in Essen will also provide information on the implementation of various IoT rollout projects, newly developed use cases and fields of application, specialized software modules and new partnerships.

“We are delighted to finally be able to talk to customers, interested parties and partners in person again this year in Essen. We want to show that we have spent the last year in a very concentrated way to significantly further develop our IoT platform and make it fit for dynamically changing customer needs in the long term,” says Digimondo managing director Sascha Schlosser, expressing expectant anticipation.
Under the joint motto “Smart Metering meets IoT”, Digimondo will be appearing “side by side” with Hausheld AG. “This allows our stand visitors to experience solutions and news from both thematic worlds at one stand for the first time,” says Sascha Schlosser, explaining the joint stand concept.
Digimondo presents the first “IoT meta platform”
The main feature of Digimondo's new generation of IoT platforms is an open integration model and a modularized usage and application structure. The division into a central software core with basic functions on the one hand and many separate and freely combinable subject and application-specific IoT modules on the other hand enables an even wider and at the same time more targeted use of IoT in a wide range of specialist areas. In addition, the solution is now designed in such a way that it can be described as the first real “IoT meta platform.” This means that sensor data from foreign LoRaWAN networks and IoT infrastructures from other operators as well as any data streams from third-party systems and other sources can also be easily integrated.
Allsänner “digital twin”
Another new core feature of Digimondo's IoT platform is the “digital twin.” It is used to digitize and optimize energy and municipal, but also public and diverse industrial objects and processes. In particular, its benefit lies in the fact that it combines sensor, geospatial, operational and other relevant investment data of any definable assets very easily, consolidates, virtualizes, interprets and visualizes them. In combination with the “Asset Management” module, which was also newly developed, the digital twin is also being used by a large industrial group, which uses it to track and remotely read out mobile power generators on its factory premises. In clinics and nursing homes, the software is used, among other things, to track the current location of patient beds and other mobile medical devices. The IoT-based monitoring of assets not only saves users a lot of time and money in the areas of organization and administration, but they are also always informed about the current status of the devices via dashboards and can react faster and more specifically to critical changes in condition.
Strong foothold in the energy industry
Since the company was founded in 2016, the energy and utility sector has been a central core market for Digimondo. Customers already include more than 60 major public utilities and energy suppliers. More than 80 IoT projects in the areas of metering (e.g. reading of shaft water meters), network management (e.g. remote transformer monitoring) and smart city (e.g. parking space monitoring) are being implemented with Digimondo solutions — and the trend is rising sharply. At the same time, the number of solution and integration partners has increased significantly. With IT service provider items GmbH & Co. KG, for example, Digimondo has developed an “IoT ERP bridge” which — as the name says — connects the IoT cosmos with the classic IT world. This additional module is used, for example, at enercity AG in Hanover, which, among other things, transfers measured values from tenant electricity projects from the IoT platform directly to the SAP billing system.
More and more public utilities and energy suppliers are also becoming IoT distributors themselves by offering their own IoT services in a municipal network or directly with their end customers — with Digimondo as an IoT platform operator in the background. “The EVU's interest in technology-open and integrated IoT solutions to flexibly supplement and gradually expand its core business is constantly growing,” says Digimondo managing director Christopher Rath, pleased about the strengthening industry trend.
On the first and second days of the fair, visitors can expect a varied program of lectures at the Digimondo exhibition stand. In-house customers, partners and IoT experts report on best practices of their own IoT projects, new software modules and new technical features and IoT modules, such as the digital twin.
Digimondo — Enjoy Your Business
Digimondo GmbH was founded in 2016 by software experts with the vision of making the world more efficient, sustainable and better with the Internet of Things (IoT). The Digimondo team develops IoT software systems and enables its customers to implement their own IoT solutions themselves. A total of more than 80 customers, including over 60 network operators in Germany as well as international customers from industry and facility management, use IoT software solutions. As an IoT pioneer in Germany, the Digimondo team has several years of experience in implementing IoT projects. The self-developed IoT platform is the key to the successful implementation of proof of concepts, projects at all levels of scale and global roll-out. By implementing a specially developed digital twin, Digimondo customers will be able to use the full potential of IoT data and information from other sources.
